About This Product
Shea olein is the softer fraction of shea butter, separated by cooling the melted butter so that the stearic-rich stearin crystallises and can be filtered away. What remains is a pale yellow oil to soft fat with a melting range of about 20 to 35 degrees Celsius. For formulators working with waxes it does the job of a liquid oil while keeping shea's character. It loosens a balm or salve made with beeswax or candelilla without the graininess that shea butter can develop, it carries fragrance well in massage oils and massage candle blends, and it brings shea's unsaponifiable fraction into a product without adding firmness. Moisture is held to 0.20 percent maximum, since water in an oil shortens its shelf life. It is used in balms and salves, massage oils and massage candles, body oils, lotions and creams, hair oils, and soap. Bio Green Wax supplies shea olein with a certificate of analysis for every batch, covering moisture, free fatty acid, saponification value, total fatty matter, melting point, colour and odour. Store it sealed, cool and away from light.
