About This Product
This grade carries an 80:20 oil blend ratio in its designation; in soap making that figure usually denotes palm oil set against palm kernel oil. It is specified on the sum of total fatty matter and glycerine, which must reach at least 72%, and glycerine alone accounts for 6–9%. Water is permitted up to 20%. Other limits are 0.1% max free alkali expressed as NaOH, 0.4–0.8% chloride expressed as NaCl and a titre ceiling of 46 °C, and the yellowish noodles include a chelating agent. With less fatty matter per tonne than the higher toilet grades, noodles of this kind suit everyday and economy toilet bars and coloured or perfumed bath soaps, where the finisher balances bar life against the cost of the base. They are mixed, milled, plodded and stamped in the usual way, and the glycerine in the base remains in the bar. The technical data sheet does not state packing or name the oils behind the 80:20 figure, so both should be settled at enquiry. Obtain the current data sheet, an SDS and the analysis certificate for the lot; plant trials should then show whether the 20% moisture allowance suits the buyer's drying, plodding and stamping conditions.
