    Wax Blends

    Rapeseed-Microcrystalline Pillar Wax Blend

    About This Product

This candle wax is a blend of hydrogenated rapeseed oil (CAS 84681-71-0) and microcrystalline wax (CAS 63231-60-7), supplied as off-white pellets that melt at 50–58 °C. Acid value is 3 mg KOH/g or less, and the data sheet gives a peroxide value limit of 3.0 g I₂/100 g. It is made for free-standing pillar candles and moulded or decorative pieces, including shapes cast in silicone moulds, and can be mixed with beeswax to improve how pillars burn. The microcrystalline component gives the set wax strength and lets it leave the mould cleanly, reducing the cracking, sinkholes and frosting seen in straight vegetable wax. Suggested handling is to heat to no more than 80 °C, add fragrance at 60–70 °C at a load of 6–8%, and pour at 50–65 °C. Part of the blend is a petroleum wax, so finished candles should not be described as wholly plant-based. Before supply, confirm the blend ratio, packaging and lot certificate, and run wick and fragrance trials in the intended moulds. Kept airtight in a cool, dry place out of sunlight, the wax has a shelf life of 36 months.
