Micronised Wax Powder for Coatings and Inks
Sobre Este Producto
This is a wax supplied already reduced to a fine powder, intended to be added directly to a liquid coating or ink. The supplier gives a typical addition of 0.5-3% depending on the system, and states it can be dispersed into solvent-based coatings and inks by high-speed stirring. The function of a wax in a coating is surface modification. As the film dries the wax, being incompatible with the binder, migrates upward and concentrates in the top few microns, where it forms a discontinuous layer of particles. That layer is what provides slip, resistance to scuffing and rub, anti-blocking between stacked printed sheets, and a degree of matting where gloss control is wanted. Particle size is the property that decides how it behaves. Too coarse and the surface hazes or feels rough; too fine and the slip effect weakens. Supplying the wax pre-micronised means the formulator inherits a controlled particle size rather than having to achieve one on a mill, which removes a processing step and the batch-to-batch variability that goes with it. Supplied as a powder in 20 kg paper-plastic compound bags.
